Have you ever wondered who makes your clothes and how to make more ethical fashion choices? Then why not join the Fashion Revolution and revive your clothes!
What will you learn?
In this workshop our tutors Julia and Sarah from The Sustainable Studio will discuss how we can all make more sustainable and ethical choices when buying, choosing or making our clothes. They will take examples of current fashion trends and demonstrate how they can be recreated from old clothes and fabrics. Participants will design and create their own upcycled fashion piece, exploring various techniques including machine embroidery, hand embroidery, applique and using transfer paper.
About Fashion Revolution
On 24th April each year, Fashion Revolution marks the day 1133 people were killed and over 2500 were injured when the Rana Plaza factory complex collapsed in Dhaka, Bangladesh 2013, the worst ever industrial disaster in the fashion and textile industry. It wasn’t the first, nor was it the last, but it is symptomatic of how little respect is given to the people who make our clothes and the environment they work in. Fashion Revolution says enough is enough.
Fashion Revolution will bring everyone in the fashion value chain together and help to raise awareness of the true cost of fashion, show the world that change is possible, and celebrate all those involved in creating a more sustainable future. We strive to keep our ticket prices as low as possible so that our workshops can be accessible to all. We are able to offer a limited amount of free tickets to those on low incomes so please get in touch if you wish to attend a workshop but feel that the cost is prohibitive.
