In October 2016 Green City Events hosted a new swap shop event for the Love Your Clothes campaign. The aim of the Love Your Clothes campaign is to reduce the environmental impact of clothes and to help people consider how they buy, use and dispose of their clothes.
We opened our shipping container drop off point outside our venue in Roath a week before the event so that locals could drop off their clothes and collect their swap shop tokens. In the lead up to the event we also hosted a series of workshops which taught skills to repair, re-vamp and upcycled old clothes. On the day more than 1300 items of clothes were swapped and over 1 tonne of clothes were donated. Visitors took part in upcycling and fixing workshops, a photo booth and made pledges to reduce the impact of their fashion choices.
