A pop up party and local skill sharing

In May 2013 we hosted The Big Lunch FREE workshop event on St Mary’s Street in Cardiff. We took over 2 empty shops and part of the high street to show people how fun and easy it can be to plan your own Big Lunch and what resources are available in local communities. There were so many activites to have a go at from circus skills and seed bomb making to cooking demos and pedal powered busking and bubbles! Everyone had a fantastic time and hopefully left with new skills and ideas to take back and share in their own communities.

The Big Lunch is a very simple idea from the Eden Project. The aim is to get as many people as possible across the whole of the UK to have lunch with their neighbours once a year in a simple act of community, friendship and fun. The charity approached Green City to help them plan an event to raise awareness of The Big Lunch in Wales.

‘Green City Events was excellent at sourcing top local producers to hold the workshops covering everything from bicycle busking to edible landscaping. The workshops were very popular- attracting hundreds of people throughout the day. We’d recommend Green City to anyone wanting an event managed efficiently and professionally.’
