Building a community Earth Oven

Building a community Earth Oven

Comments Off on Building a community Earth Oven

We had a wonderful weekend in the rain and shine building an earth oven for the new community allotment at Pengham permanent site. Under the guidance of our experienced tutor, Nancy Evans, our eager participants and volunteers learnt how to build a sturdy base, tread the cob, create the sand dome and thermo layer and got very messy in the process!

The result was Horace the hedgehog earth oven! The community allotment members will be able to bake bread, pizzas, cakes and even cook lots of the produce they grow! Big thanks to our participants, community members and our tutor Nancy for all their hard work. The beautiful hedgehog oven will be ready in a few weeks for us to fire up and start baking in!

We had such fun that we will be planning another earth oven workshop next year so contact us HERE to register your interest. In the meantime check out some photos from the workshop…
